Former Alabama WR Julio Jones was in the headlines this week when it was reported that he lost his diamond earring valued at over $100,000 in Gainesville, Ga. while riding a jet ski at Lake Lanier. He reportedly fell into the water after hitting the wake of another vessel.

Meeting with Atlanta Falcons media on Saturday, Jones cleared up some facts about the situation.

While he watched divers search for it, he told reporters that he had not hired the diving team. He also said the diamond was insured.

“I didn’t hire anyone like a dive team. I did not do that,” Jones said on Saturday. “It was insured. I was fine. I didn’t get thrown off anything; I jumped off the jet ski. So that’s cleared up.”

While the jetski incident got a lot of attention in the media, Jones told reporters that his teammates did not give him a hard time about it, as they were focused on returning to camp and practicing again.

As far as on-the-filed updates, Jones said that his foot is feeling well. He had a bunion surgically removed in March and was limited in offseason activities.
