Since leaving Alabama, Julio Jones has been one of the NFL’s top receivers. He’s about to get paid more than any other pass-catcher in the league.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Jones is set to sign an extension with the Atlanta Falcons that will make him the highest-paid wide receiver in the league. Around the NFL shares that Jones will be paid $22 million a year over three years.

Those who follow Jones and/or the Falcons know that in recent days there was talk of the All-Pro wideout sitting out Week 1 if he did not have a new contract. Those concerns appear to be no more with Saturday’s big news.

Jones has the highest yards per game average (96.7) of any wide receiver in NFL history. Over eight seasons (2011-18), Jones has played in 111 games, recording 698 catches for 10,731 yards and 51 touchdowns. Jones is a six-time Pro Bowler (2012; 2014-18) and four-time All-Pro (2015-18).

Jones and the Falcons open the season at the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
