The No. 1 dual-threat quarterback prospect in the nation was in attendance for the 2018 Under Armour All-American Game but, of course, he was unable to participate in the contest as he continues to rehab after injuring his finger during his senior season of high school football.

Georgia managed to land his commitment late in the season and had to once again hold off every program in the nation that hired a new coach and thought a fresh approach may work, however, Fields ended any and all speculation by signing with the Dawgs during the early signing period.

During the ESPN2 broadcast of the UA All-American Game, Fields gave the latest update on his rehab. Here’s what he had to say when asked about his injured finger.

“It feels pretty good, I’d say it’s about 80 percent,” Fields said. “I’ll just continue to rehab to get it back to where it was.”

He was then asked the question he’s probably very tired of answering: Why would you go to Georgia with Jake Fromm there?

“I love to compete and I’m not scared to compete,” he answered. “I’m not scared of competition at all. Competiton makes you better, that’s why I chose Georgia. I love the school, I love the coaches, I love everything about it, that’s why I chose Georgia.”

Will you enroll early?

“I’m not sure yet. I will decide either Friday or Saturday, so we’ll see,” Fields said.

What’s going to determine that?

“Baseball really,” he said. “There are a few major league organizations that are thinking about drafting me in a high round so I’m just weighing in that factor and we’ll see where that takes me.”
