Justin Jefferson was forced to exit Sunday’s Week 2 game between the Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers in the 3rd quarter after suffering an apparent leg injury.

As you can see below, Jefferson appeared to get tangled up with a 49ers defender before going to the turf in pain. He eventually made his way to the locker room under his own power, albeit slowly, to be evaluated further.

Jefferson is far and away one of the best receivers in the NFL. After posting 1,809 yards in 2022, a hamstring injury limited him in 2023 as he played in just 10 games but did eclipse the 1,000-yard receiving mark once again. He had 6 catches for 59 yards and a touchdown against the New York Giants in Week 1 and had made 4 catches for 133 yards — including a 97-yard touchdown catch — before leaving the game.

Needless to say, Jefferson being injured again could have serious ramifications for the Vikings’ 2024 season, one that features Sam Darnold behind center in place of Kirk Cousins. They’ll look to see out a 4th-quarter lead over the defending NFC champions with their best player out, at least for the time being.
