Justin Jefferson explains why the Vikings’ interest in drafting Justin Fields made sense

The Minnesota Vikings drafted former LSU WR Justin Jefferson in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He went on to have an outstanding rookie season.
In the 2021 NFL Draft, the Vikings were reportedly interested in trading up for Ohio State QB Justin Fields, but that plan fell through. Instead, their NFC North rivals — the Chicago Bears — traded up to snag Fields.
The Vikings already have a starting QB in Kirk Cousins. But, during an appearance on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” Jefferson explained why drafting Fields would have made sense:

“No we have to build on for after Kirk, or whatever the case may be,” Jefferson said. “Having Justin Fields brings more pressure on other teams to having a dominant quarterback like he is.”
