Cal starting quarterback Sam Jackson is reportedly “day-to-day” for Week 2 against Auburn after exiting the Bears’ Week 1 game against North Texas.
Cal head coach Justin Wilcox told reporters Tuesday that Jackson has been “running around at practice,” but that he remains day-to-day for Saturday regardless.
Jackson played just 18 snaps against North Texas in a 58-21 Cal victory. Backup Ben Finley came in relief and played well, throwing for 279 yards and touchdown on 24/34 passing.
Starting center Matthew Cindric is still without update after exiting in the first half of last week’s win.
Justin Wilcox says quarterback Sam Jackson V is “day to day” but practiced today for the Bears.
No update on starting Matthew Cindric at this point.
DL Nate Burrell is expected to play Saturday against Auburn.

Auburn could be without some players as well. RB Jarquez Hunter’s status is still unknown after an offseason of uncertainty, and head coach Hugh Freeze commented on the possibility that Nick Mardner, Austin Keys, Jalen McLeod and Nehemiah Pritchett could miss Week 2 as well.
Auburn faces off against Cal at 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
