Kadyn Proctor is not believed to be dealing with a serious injury, according to a report.
The Alabama offensive tackle was held out of the Crimson Tide’s season-opener against Western Kentucky after injuring his shoulder in pregame warmups. Per 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Alex Scarborough, Proctor is not dealing with a longterm injury. He “appears” to be week-to-week, according to their report.
That’s good news overall for the Crimson Tide, as Proctor projects to be one of the best offensive tackles in the country when fully healthy. The former 5-star prospect started for Alabama last season as a true freshman and is a crucial part of the Tide’s offensive line this season as well.
With Proctor out, Elijah Pritchett earned the start in his place. Alabama didn’t necessarily miss Proctor — it will still able to put up 63 points on Western Kentucky in Week 1. But Pritchett’s poor Pro Football Focus grade (53.1) highlights the fact that Alabama will need Proctor back in order to reach its highest potential in 2024.
At this point, it’s unclear if Proctor will be able to make it back for Week 2 against South Florida. The Crimson Tide will be heavily-favored in that game, but a Week 3 trip to Madison, Wisconsin, to face the Badgers could be trickier if Alabama doesn’t have its starting left tackle.
Alabama will face USF at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
