Kalen DeBoer had an up-and-down first season as the new coach at Alabama, and he has made it an added point of emphasis to bring in his guys to be on the staff.

On Wednesday, the Alabama staff page added Tyler Hughes as an analyst. Mike Rodak of 247Sports reported the addition.

Hughes worked with DeBoer 2 seasons ago at Washington when the Huskies made it to the CFP National Championship game, falling to Michigan. Last season, he was the wide receivers coach in New England, but he wasn’t retained as Mike Vrabel took over the job.

This isn’t the first former assistant that DeBoer has brought in this off-season, as he also brought in Ryan Grubb to the be the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator. Hughes was also on that Washington staff with Nick Sheridan (QB coach), JaMarcus Shephard (WR coach) and Mitch Dahlen (analyst).

There is added pressure for DeBoer to get things rolling in Tuscaloosa, as the Crimson Tide failed to reach at least 10 wins in a season for the first time in 17 seasons. With superstar sophomore wide receiver Ryan Williams coming back, Alabama could once again prove to be 1 of the best teams in college football.
