Kalen DeBoer believes that the key between No. 4 Alabama and No. 2 Georgia on Saturday will be turnovers.

The first-year coach of the Crimson Tide is making his SEC debut this weekend when the Bulldogs visit Tuscaloosa.

Talking to ESPN’s Marty Smith to preview Saturday evening’s big matchup on ABC, DeBoer focused on turnovers, the offense getting into a rhythm, and making sure that his Alabama players focus on themselves.

Through three games this season, Alabama has a mark of zero in turnover differential. The Tide are turning the ball over an average of 1.3 times per game, and taking it back from the other team 1.3 times per game. Georgia’s offense hasn’t had a turnover this year, while its defense is taking the ball away once per game.

Alabama beat Georgia in their last meeting, taking a 27-24 win in Atlanta in Nick Saban’s final SEC Championship Game. The Tide hammered the Bulldogs in their last meeting in Tuscaloosa too, winning 41-24.

Alabama has won eight of its last nine matchups with Georgia, with the lone loss coming in the 2022 CFP National Championship Game in Indianapolis.

DeBoer has never faced Georgia as a head coach.
