Kalen DeBoer is entering Year 2 as the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Replacing a legend like Nick Saban was never going to be easy, but a 9-win season in 2024 already had some fans questioning if DeBoer was right for the job.
Things were supposed to be better in 2025, but instead, it appears the words “hot seat” are becoming even more associated with the words “Kalen DeBoer.”
Alabama, the No. 8 team in the country in the preseason AP Poll, is struggling in the first half against an unranked Florida State squad that went 2-10 last year.
Let’s just say fans on social media are not taking it easy on DeBoer, as you can see from the selection of posts below:
This is very much not the same FSU squad that went 2-10 last year. Gus Malzahn is paying immediate dividends as the new offensive coordinator, while QB Thomas Castellanos has backed up his offseason trash talk thus far.
Alabama finds itself in a 17-7 hole at the half in Tallahassee. Will the rain continue? Will the Tide continue to sputter on both sides of the ball? We’ll see what happens in the second half of this marquee Week 1 matchup.
