The Alabama Crimson Tide entered Friday’s College Football Playoff first-round matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners with tight end Josh Cuevas listed as “probable” on the final availability reports.
Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer told the Crimson Tide Sports Network during pregame that Cuevas confirmed that Cuevas will play – but admitted that he isn’t sure what the senior will provide as he is still recovering from a foot injury sustained at practice before the Eastern Illinois game.
“We’ll see what we can get out of Cuevas,” DeBoer said. “I know he’s going to give it a try and see where he’s at. I give the guy a lot of credit to getting him to this point. He wants to be out there pretty bad.”
Cuevas last saw action for Alabama (10-3) against Oklahoma on Nov. 15, reeling in 6 catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in the Tide’s 23-21 home loss to the Sooners. In 10 games of action in 2025, Cuevas has 30 receptions for 341 yards and 4 touchdowns.
For his 5-year career, Cuevas has notched 112 catches for 1,457 yards and 12 touchdowns – playing at Cal Poly in 2021 and 2022, for DeBoer at Washington in 2023 and at Alabama in 2024 and 2025.
