Alabama quarterback commit Keelon Russell was named MVP of the Elite 11 Finals on Thursday afternoon.

It’s a tremendous honor for Russell, who was competing alongside other elite high school quarterbacks in the class of 2025. The Elite 11 staff takes game film evaluations and camp performance into account when ranking the quarterbacks at the event.

Here’s video of the moment that Russell officially won the award:

The Elite 11 Finals is widely regarded as the top annual quarterback competition on the high school circuit. Numerous former Heisman Trophy winners and NFL starters competed at the Elite 11 Finals.

Prior to Russell, Alabama hadn’t had an Elite 11 Finals MVP since Tua Tagovailoa earned the honor in 2016.

Russell is a recent commitment for the Crimson Tide. He announced his intentions to play for Alabama and Kalen DeBoer back on June 4. He also had offers from programs such as Oregon, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and several other top programs. He hails from Duncanville, Texas.

Russell is the No. 38 overall player and the No. 6 quarterback in the country for the class of 2025, per 247Sports Composite rankings. In 2025, he’ll join an Alabama quarterback room that could include players such as Ty Simpson, Dylan Lonergan and Austin Mack. Jalen Milroe will still have eligibility for the 2025 season as well and could return for a 3rd season as Alabama’s starter, depending on how the 2024 campaign goes.

Here are some highlights from Russell’s junior season of high school ball:
