Kelvin Banks Jr. is a star offensive lineman for Texas this season. Unfortunately, he will not be able to go in Saturday’s SEC Championship Game against Georgia.

Banks was injured in the season-ending rivalry against Texas A&M and was originally listed as questionable for Saturday’s game on the midweek status report. He was updated as a game-time decision early in the day, but he was spotted in street clothes during warm-ups, a clear indication he would not be able to go.

It goes without saying, but that is a massive blow for the Longhorns. He is a finalist for the 2024 Lombardi Award with 37 career starts and a massive offensive tackle prospect for the NFL Draft.

The injury also signifies some worry for the Longhorns’ offense facing Georgia’s defense. The Bulldogs got after Quinn Ewers in the first game of the season between these two teams, finishing with 7 sacks, 10 TFL and 4 takeaways in the 30-15 win in Austin.

We will see how Texas adjusts to try and keep Ewers out of harm’s way and the offense on track against Kirby Smart’s unit.  Kickoff in Atlanta is set for 4:15 pm ET on ABC.
