Ed Orgeron has just added another coach with ties to the West Coast to his LSU staff as former standout USC player and Trojan defensive line coach Kenechi Udeze has been hired on in Baton Rouge.

The Tigers have recently been making major strides to become a power player when it comes to West Coast recruiting and the hire of Udeze is only going to help those efforts. If you were unaware, the two highest-rated prospects committed to LSU in the 2020 recruiting cycle, five-star DB Elias Ricks and four-star receiver Jermaine Burton, both hail from California. In addition to those two prospects, three-star lineman Jordan Berry is also an LSU commit from California.

Udeze’s hire at LSU was first reported by Scott Wolf of Inside USC. After serving as USC’s defensive line coach for three seasons, Udeze will serve as an analyst for the Tigers.

The Los Angeles native played for USC during the Pete Carroll era and after helping the Trojans win a national title, he went on to become a first-round pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Unfortunately, his playing career was cut short when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Udeze started his coaching career in 2009 and was at USC from 2015 until last season.
