Kentucky entered the 2022 NCAA Tournament as No. 2 seed, with many expecting the Wildcats to make a deep March Madness run.
Instead, in their first game on Thursday, the Wildcats fell to No. 15 seed Saint Peter’s, who have since advanced to the Sweet 16.
On Monday night, AD Mitch Barnhart issued a strong statement, saying he’s disappointed for Kentucky fans that they didn’t get to advance to the Philadelphia region and on to the Final Four in New Orleans:
Mitch Barnhart: "I've been here 20 years at Kentucky, and I've lived in and worked alongside what I consider the greatest fanbase in America. … We're built for championships. It's about championships in March and April, deep, deep runs. We fell short of that this year."

Mitch Barnhart: "(Kentucky) celebrates championship-level performance. We need to return that. Our fans deserve that. I am deeply disappointed as they are, that we didn't have a chance to experience that this year in Indianapolis, Philadelphia and New Orleans."

Kentucky hasn’t been to a Final Four since 2015. That’s a long drought in Lexington.
Coach John Calipari isn’t on the hot seat just yet, but that’s a strong statement from Barnhart. The pressure is mounting for Coach Cal to lead his team on another deep March Madness run.
