Kentucky has an extremely tough end to its season, as the Wildcats lost 6 of their last 7 games to finish 4-8. They were blown out by in-state rival Louisville in the season finale, losing that game 41-14. To make things worse, there was even injured offensive lineman Gerald Mincey going to the concession stand in the middle of the game.

On Tuesday, things got worse as it is being reported that WR coach Daikiel Shorts will be leaving and becoming the WR coach at Nebraska.

Rumors started swirling on Monday that the Cornhuskers WR Garret McGuire, the wide receivers coach for the past two seasons, would not be kept on in that same role.

On Monday, it was announced that Dana Holgorsen would be signing a contract extension to be the offensive coordinator for Nebraska next season. The reports of Shorts heading to Nebraska make a ton of sense as he has a long relationship with Holgorsen, starting in his playing days.

He played his collegiate football at West Virginia from 2013-2016, where Holgorsen was the coach during that time. He was a program assistant for the Mountaineers in 2018 and then went to Houston from 2019-23. He was the director of player personnel in the first year for the Cougars, and then he switched to the WR coach.

Mark Stoops has come out and said he isn’t leaving Kentucky, but there could be players and coaches leaving the program.
