On Friday, first-year Kentucky head coach Will Stein scored a major win on the recruiting trail.

Four-star 2027 defensive lineman Elijah Brown has revealed his verbal commitment to the Wildcats. Brown had official visits lined up to Mizzou and Auburn in the coming months, but he pulled the trigger well in advance of those. According to CatsPause, Brown was in Lexington for a visit in late March. His official is scheduled for the weekend of June 19.

Brown is a 6-foot-3, 290-pound interior defensive lineman from Prattville (Ala.) High. He lined up all across the defensive front last season. In the industry-generated 247 Composite, Brown is rated as the No. 271 overall prospect in the Class of 2027. He’s the 14th-ranked recruit from the state of Alabama and the 32nd-ranked defensive lineman in the class.

The Wildcats are up to 7 known commitments for the 2027 cycle with Brown’s verbal pledge. He immediately becomes the highest-ranked prospect in the class and the first 4-star. Stein has placed an early emphasis on the line of scrimmage; Kentucky has 2 known commitments from offensive linemen and now 2 pledges from front 7 defenders.
