Kentucky RB Boom Williams will not play Saturday at Georgia, coach Mark Stoops told reporters on Thursday.
Williams appeared to injure his elbow last weekend against Tennessee in a 52-21 loss.
Once briefly committed to Georgia, Williams has averaged 6.6 yards per carry in 2015 and is among the SEC leaders in that category. He’s carried the ball 85 times for 563 yards and three touchdowns.
A sophomore, Williams was considered week-to-week after what looked like a significant injury upon watching the initial replay.
At least Kentucky fans can smile about LB Jason Hatcher. Limited against Tennessee, he should be in the lineup as the Wildcats defense attempts to stuff Georgia’s running game.
“He’s much better now,” Stoops said of Hatcher, according to beat reporter Jen Smith. “He’s much, much better. He played Saturday, as you know. It was close last week, but didn’t get the week of practice. Got much more practice this week.”
