Leach was Texas Tech’s head coach from 2000-09, followed by a stint at Washington State from 2012-19, and then finally at Mississippi State. Leach tallied a 158-107 record while winning AFCA Coach of the Year in 2018. Leach also earned Pac-12 Coach of the Year 2 times (2015 and 2018) plus took home Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2008.
7-5 Kentucky is coming off a 26-13 victory vs. in-state rival Louisville in the regular season finale. That win snapped a 2-game losing streak that occurred against Vanderbilt and Georgia.
This will be a rematch of Kentucky and Iowa’s first-ever meeting last season in the Citrus Bowl. Kentucky won that contest 20-17.
The Music City Bowl is slated for a noon ET kickoff and will be televised on ABC.
