Kentucky has landed a commitment from 3-star Phoenix (Ariz.) Hillcrest Prep wing Jordan Burks.
Burks, a 6-foot-9 forward in the 2023 class, originally signed with Ole Miss back in November of 2022. He was granted a release from that NLI earlier this year following the firing of coach Kermit Davis. Burks has already signed a new NLI with Kentucky and, according to multiple reports, is on campus in Lexington. The Wildcats announced his addition on social media Monday.

Burks has been a bucket-getter at the high school level. He averaged 30.7 points a game as a junior for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy in Alabama. His Hillcrest Prep team competed in the Overtime Elite league, where he led all scorers by averaging 27.1 points a game in the regular season and then 23.0 points in the playoffs. Burks was also top-10 in rebounding, averaging 7.5 a game.
Efficiency is a work in progress. He shot 27% from 3-point range and just 67% from the free throw line — on more than 10 attempts a game. He’s at his most comfortable attacking the basket; Burks had multiple games with more than 15 free throw attempts for Hillcrest Prep last season.
“Jordan has good size and has the ability to be a prolific scorer,” coach John Calipari said. “His length allows him to play multiple positions, be dynamic in the open court, rebound at both ends and he can put it on the floor and score in a variety of ways. Jordan has challenged himself against the best of the best and wanted to continue to be pushed at the next level.”
He joins a 2023 class that ranks No. 1 in the country and includes 5-star signees Justin Edwards, Aaron Bradshaw, DJ Wagner, and Robert Dillingham. You can view some of Burks’ highlight tape below:
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
