Kentucky earned a commitment from one of the top big-men in the transfer portal on Tuesday morning.
The Wildcats landed former Oklahoma State center Brandon Garrison, who started 29 games last season as a true freshman. The ex-Cowboy chose UK over Oklahoma, Arkansas and other potential suitors in the transfer portal.

Garrison was one of the best available centers in the transfer portal this offseason. This past season as a freshman at Oklahoma State, Garrison averaged 7.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in 22.7 minutes per night. He was more impactful on the defensive end, averaging 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocks per game.
A former 4-star prospect, Garrison was a McDonald’s All-American in the class of 2023 coming out of high school. He’s originally from Oklahoma City.
Garrison is the 5th transfer to commit to Mark Pope and the Wildcats’ staff so far this offseason. He now headlines a group that also includes former Oklahoma guard Otega Oweh, former Wake Forest guard Andrew Carr and former San Diego State guard Lamont Butler Jr.
The Wildcats are also expected to remain active in the portal as they continue to build out their roster. Transfers Great Osobor (Utah State) and Koby Brea (Dayton) are visiting Kentucky this week, according to multiple reports.
Kentucky is expected to have a veteran roster in 2024-25, especially relative to previous seasons under John Calipari. As of now, Kentucky has just one commitment from the high school ranks in 2024 — 4-star point guard Travis Perry. However, Garrison will be just a true sophomore next season, making him one of the youngest players on the roster.
Garrison will have 3 years of eligibility remaining in Lexington.
