Saturday in Lexington was all about one man — former Kentucky OL coach John Schlarman, who sadly passed away at age 45 this week after a 2-year battle with cancer.

OL Landon Young wore Schlarman’s old jersey No. 65, and the Wildcats paid tribute to Schlarman on the first play of the game. Then, the Wildcats used their strong ground game to pick up a 38-35 win over Vanderbilt that would have made the OL coach proud.

After the game, the Kentucky starting linemen posed for the below picture, all pointing or raising their hands to the sky. The tribute to Schlarman on the scoreboard behind them is a great touch, too:

Schlarman will be missed in the Kentucky program. RIP, Coach.
