Kentucky could make strong case for preseason No. 1 with potential transfer addition

Stanford’s loss could soon be Kentucky’s gain as Reid Travis is leaving the Pac-12 program.
A four-year player for Stanford, Travis declared for the NBA Draft without hiring an agent back in April. A two-time All-Pac 12 selection, Travis missed the vast majority of the 2015-16 season and was given a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA.
According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN, Travis has decided to withdraw his name from the upcoming draft and will instead transfer. According to Goodman, Kentucky is the favorite to land Travis.
The 6-foot-8, 245-pound forward ranked third in the Pac-12 in scoring (19.5 ppg) and rebounding (8.7 rpg) last season. He also finished in the top five in the league in both categories in 2016-17.
Stanford’s Reid Travis will withdraw and transfer elsewhere, sources told ESPN. The odds-on favorite to land Travis is Kentucky.

Depending on which players decided to return to Kentucky for next season, the Wildcats could make a strong case to be No. 1 in the nation if they all return and Travis joins the group.
