The Kentucky Wildcats won’t hold their annual Blue & White spring football game this year as the university works hard to complete renovations to Commonwealth Stadium in time for the fall.
As a result, the university’s athletics department announced Tuesday night that Saturday’s spring practice will be open to the public, which will give fans an opportunity to see their Cats up close even without a spring game.
According to UK football spokesman Tony Neely in a UK Athletics media release, the practice is scheduled to begin at noon on the Tim Couch Practice Fields at the Nutter Training Center on Kentucky’s campus. Gates will open for fans at noon. The release also states the practice may be moved to UK’s indoor facility at the Nutter Field House next to Commonwealth Stadium if weather does not cooperate.
The practice is completely free to the public.
Here are some other notes Neely passed along in the release that UK fans planning to attend ought to know in advance:
- No chairs are permitted in the facility
- Please stay behind all signs, painted lines and all ropes. While on site please follow instructions of UK Athletics staff.
- Nutter Training Center will not be open to the public
- Public restrooms are located in the C8 parking lot
- No autographs or posed pictures are permitted during this event
Parking is available free of charge in the following locations:
- C8 Lot behind the rightfield fence of Cliff Hagan Stadium
- E-Lot beside the Cliff Hagan Stadium
- Parking Structure #7
- Small E-Lots next to practice field and tennis center
- C6 Green Lot near Commonwealth Stadium
Kentucky will close the spring practice season with closed practices next week on Monday, April 13 and Wednesday, April 15.
