Following an offseason of transition on its defensive coaching staff, Kentucky appears to be close to having the staff at full capacity for spring football. Following the departure of defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh, Mark Stoops is reportedly set to hire North Texas defensive line coach Derrick LeBlanc.
News of LeBlanc heading to Lexington was first reported by Football Scoop. LeBlanc is a graduate of Northwestern State.
LeBlanc has only coached one season for the Mean Green but has experience at Southern Mississippi, Wyoming, and Pearl River College, as well as having spent four seasons in the SEC as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at LSU.
The Wildcats finished the 2016 season ranked No. 12 in the SEC in rushing defense, No. 9 in total defense in the SEC and managed to get only 21 sacks of opposing quarterbacks – tied for No. 11 in the league.
