A Kentucky freshman wide receiver has had a change of plans. After entering the transfer portal on Monday, Shamar Porter decided to remove his name from the portal and stick with the Wildcats, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

Last year, Porter was a big get for Mark Stoops’ staff as the highest-rated recruit in UK’s 2023 recruiting class. A standout of Ensworth High School in Nashville, Porter was rated 4-stars, the No. 6 player in Tennessee, No. 43 wide receiver and No. 305 prospect overall nationally by the 247Sports Composite. He chose Kentucky over scholarship offers from 14 other programs, including Georgia, Tennessee and Ole Miss.

Porter took a redshirt for the 2023 campaign after suffering a preseason injury. He’ll look to carve out a role in the receiving room next season catching passes from Georgia transfer Brock Vandagriff, a former 5-star recruit.

This past season, Dane Key led Kentucky pass-catchers with 38 receptions for 553 yards. Running back Ray Davis led the team in receiving touchdowns with 7 (29 catches, 317 yards).
