
Kentucky (43-14) stymied Indiana State Sunday night to win the Lexington Regional and advance to the Super Regional round for the second consecutive season.
After giving up 8 runs in their first game at the regional, UK has been locked in on the mound. The Wildcats gave up just 1 run to Illinois as Trey Pooser went 7 innings with 7 strikeouts and only 1 earned. Against Indiana State on Sunday night, Big Blue held the Sycamores without a run in a 5-0 victory.
Mason Moore drew the start and his ninth win of the season after pitching 6 innings of scoreless ball with 6 strikeouts and just 4 hits allowed. Cameron O’Brien produced the game’s final 7 outs, allowing just 1 hit with 5 consecutive strikeouts.
Indiana State grounded out to end the game. With O’Brien and Moore dealing on the mound (Jackson Nove also faced 3 batters in the seventh), Indiana State got just 1 hit after the fourth inning.
Kentucky added runs in the first, second, and third to take an early 3-0 lead. They scored 2 more in the seventh when Emilien Pitre cranked a 2-run home run to left field.

Pitre scored 2 runs, had 2 RBI, and produced a walk. Ryan Nicholson also hit a solo shot in the top of the second.
Kentucky took care of business, going 3-0 in the regional round. Now, the Wildcats turn their attention to what will be the program’s first hosted Super Regional in school history. They’ll face either Oregon State or UC Irvine.
