Kentucky has signed a potential starter at offensive tackle.

Tate Leavitt of Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College inked with the Wildcats today. The 6-foot-6, 298-pound Ohio native will enroll at UK in January and could emerge as the odds-on favorite to replace departing starter Jordan Swindle.

“Tate is a prototypical tackle, a complete player,” Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops said. “Not only is he a great player, but he’s also a difference-maker off the field, with great presence, very confident.”

Leavitt is part of a very good Kentucky offensive line recruiting class. A pair of in-state U.S. Army All-Americans– tackle Landon Young and center Drake Jackson — highlight the high school talent heading to Lexington in the 2016 cycle at that position.

Leavitt is the No. 5 JUCO offensive tackle prospect per 247Sports Composite rankings. The Wildcats currently have the nation’s No. 26 recruiting class.
