Kentucky will face Ole Miss on Saturday without the services of one of its best defensive players.

Preseason all-SEC cornerback Maxwell Hairston has been ruled out for Saturday’s game, according to the availability report released by the league on Friday evening. Hairston is believed to be dealing with a shoulder injury as the Wildcats prepare for their Week 5 matchup vs. the Rebels.

His absence is a huge loss for Kentucky. He’s one of the better cornerbacks in the league and would have been very useful on Saturday against the Rebels’ elite passing attack.

Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart is one of the most prolific passers in the country. Kentucky will now have to find other solutions as it tries to match up against receivers such as Tre Harris, Cayden Lee and Antwane Wells Jr.

Kentucky will be without a total of 8 players on Saturday vs. the Rebels. Ole Miss has an even lengthier injury report. Ten players have already been ruled out while another 10 are uncertain for Saturday’s game (5 questionable, 5 probable).

Here’s the full Friday night SEC availability report:

Mark Stoops and the Wildcats last met Ole Miss back in 2022. The Rebels won that game 22-19.

A final availability report will be issued by the SEC on Saturday morning, 90 minutes before kickoff. This game is slated to start at 12 p.m. ET.
