Kentucky coach Mark Stoops has already raided the Cincinnati coaching staff this offseason, hiring OC Eddie Gran and QB coach Darin Hinshaw away from Tommy Tuberville’s Bearcats.
Now, according to a report from 247Sports’ Josh Edwards, Stoops may be preparing to hire another Cincinnati assistant.
This time, Stoops is eyeing newly appointed Cincinnati defensive coordinator Steve Clinkscale to fill the Wildcats’ opening at defensive backs coach.
He would be replacing Derrick Ansley, who left Kentucky earlier this month to join Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama.
Clinkscale has served as the Bearcats defensive backs coach for the last three seasons, and was promoted to defensive coordinator last month.
Kentucky beat writer Jen Smith has confirmed Edwards’ report, though she does say that an official hire has yet to be made.
Reports saying Cincinnati’s Steve Clinkscale will be the new DB coach at Kentucky are true. He hasn’t been formally hired yet, I’m told.
