A veteran Kentucky defensive back will reportedly look at continuing his college football career elsewhere. According to Justin Rowland of Rivals, Jalen Geiger will enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Geiger joined the Wildcats in 2019. The NCAA allows him a 6th-year “super senior” season due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the 2020 season. Geiger was 1 of 3 remaining members of UK’s 2019 signing class on the roster.
According to Kentucky’s online roster, Geiger played in 34 games over 5 seasons at UK, primarily as a reserve. He made 4 starts over the 2021 and ’22 seasons.
Geiger has recorded 38 total tackles, including 21 solo stops, and 3 passes defended with 1 interception in his time with the Wildcats. His most productive season came in 2021 when he recorded 18 tackles, including 11 stops, and 1 pick in 13 games.
Players are not bound to transfer upon entry into the portal, though teams can assign the scholarship to another player.
Jalen Geiger was one of three remaining members of Kentucky’s 2019 signing class this year.
Can play every position in the secondary and will be a great addition for another program. He is entering the portal. https://t.co/LvX8h2a4ov
