Kentucky wide receiver Ja’Mori Maclin has played for 3 different colleges in his career. After fellow Kentucky WR Dane Key announced his decision to transfer, some wondered if Maclin would again enter the portal as well.
However, the WR took to social media on Thursday to announce that he will indeed return to Lexington in 2025.
“Here to stay,” said Maclin in his announcement post.

This past season was Maclin’s first as a Wildcat. The speedy receiver started his college football career at Missouri but transferred after recording just 1 catch for 5 yards as a freshman.
The next stop for Maclin was North Texas. In 2 seasons with the Mean Green, Maclin caught 73 passes for 1,384 yards and 13 TDs. An impressive 1,000-yard season in 2023 made Maclin a hot commodity in the transfer portal ahead of the 2024 season.
Maclin decided on Kentucky and caught 13 passes for 313 yards and 4 TDs in 2024. The Wildcats also utilized Maclin as a punt returner with the versatile athlete returning 14 punts for 103 yards.
As a prospect, Maclin was rated as a 3-star by the 247Sports Composite ranking. This ranking also had Maclin as the No. 90 WR and the No. 9 prospect out of Missouri in the 2020 class. Maclin is a cousin of former NFL Pro Bowler Jeremy Maclin.
With Maclin’s numbers taking a huge dip and the Wildcats having a dreadful 5-7 season, it wouldn’t have been surprising to see the WR test the transfer portal waters. Instead, the Wildcats will keep a veteran option around on the offense in 2025.
