Kenyan Drake not concerned with his workload in Miami, he just wants to win again
Now entering his fourth NFL season, Kenyan Drake is focused solely on one goal — winning.
Miami is now under the leadership of first-year head coach Brian Flores, who previously served as the linebackers coach in New England. Despite the franchise switching things up and going from the offensive-minded Adam Gase to the defensive-minded Flores, Drake isn’t at all concerned with the direction of his side of the ball, he just wants to start winning again.
The Dolphins made the playoffs in Drake’s rookie season back in 2016 but have yet to reach the postseason since that time. Coming from Alabama, where all the Crimson Tide seemingly do is win, Drake appears eager to help his team achieve team success once again.
“I would like to win a lot more games,” Drake recently said according to David Furones of the Sun-Sentinel. “That’s my most important thing — whether I get the ball five times or 25 times, if we’re winning games, everybody’s going to get the accolades that they want. All in all, we went [7-9] last year and people had good stat seasons. I had over 1,000 [total] yards, almost double digits in touchdowns — you know, whoop-dee-doo. We didn’t go to the playoffs. We didn’t win enough games.”
In three NFL seasons, Drake has rushed for 1,358 yards and nine touchdowns while adding 94 catches for 762 yards and another six scores. With Frank Gore leaving the Dolphins this offseason, Drake is in position to assert himself as the team’s leading rusher. While that would mean career numbers could be coming for the running back, instead of looking to pad his individual stats, Drake is taking a team-first approach this offseason.
