Mike White officially welcomes Kerry Blackshear to the Gators basketball program
College basketball fans have been patiently waiting for weeks for Virginia Tech graduate transfer Kerry Blackshear to make his decision when it came to where he would finish his collegiate playing career. When the dust had settled, the former Hokie announced he would finish his college career in Gainesville.
After averaging 14.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the Hokies last season, Blackshear was considered the most coveted graduate transfer in the nation by the vast majority of basketball analysts. Instead of returning to Virginia Tech, joining his former head coach Buzz Williams at Texas A&M or joining forces with the Kentucky or Tennessee basketball programs, Blackshear picked Florida over a long list of suitors.
