Many Gators fans will remember Kerwin Bell for his storied career as a Florida QB through the mid 1980s.
After a couple of seasons in the NFL, Bell later earned a role on Steve Spurrier’s staff as a graduate assistant in 1990.
The former SEC player of the year spent the last nine seasons as the head coach at Jacksonville University.
But on Friday, Bell made the next step in his head coaching career by officially accepting the head coaching position at Valdosta State.
Bell had this to say on accepting the job, according to a press release from the university:
“I am excited for the opportunity to be the next head football coach at Valdosta State University,” said Bell on Friday. “We will continue to build upon the great tradition of champions that has made Blazer Nation proud.”
