Senior quarterback Jake Hubenak — along with true freshman Kellen Mond — is expected to play for Texas A&M on Saturday when the Aggies host Nicholls State.
Hubenak was available to play in the Aggies’ heartbreaking 45-44 loss to UCLA, but “just didn’t,” according to head coach Kevin Sumlin.

The starter is expected to be named on game day.
Sumlin on Mond, Hubenak: “We’ve got to prepare both those guys to go. We’ll announce a starter on Saturday.” Expects both will play.

Starting quarterback Nick Starkel went down in the opener with a potential season-ending injury.
Mond was a measly 3-of-17 passing in Starkel’s absence. Hubenak has thrown for nearly 1,300 yards in his career and has tossed nine touchdown passes.
