As momentum gathered Sunday pointing toward Lane Kiffin bolting Ole Miss to LSU – and reportedly threatening to poach Rebels players and staff on his way out the door – at least 1 current Ole Miss coach apparently doesn’t plan to join Kiffin in Baton Rouge.

John Talty from CBS Sports reported Sunday morning that Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding would not go to LSU with Kiffin.

Golding, 41, has been the Ole Miss defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach since 2023. He previously served the same role under Nick Saban at Alabama from 2018-22 – including the Crimson Tide’s 2020 national championship squad. Golding and Kiffin did not cross paths on the Alabama assistant coaching staff, as Golding was at Southern Miss and UTSA during Kiffin’s tenure as offensive coordinator at Alabama from 2013-17.

Entering Week 14 play, Ole Miss ranked 35th nationally in total defense by allowing 333.1 yards per game. The Rebels ranked 26th nationally in scoring defense at 20.08 points per outing and 22nd nationally in passing yards allowed at 182.6 per game.

Golding played safety at Delta State from 2002-05, racking up 285 career tackles to rank third in school history while recording 9 career interceptions.
