The Georgia Bulldogs held their first fall scrimmage on Saturday, which featured plenty of notable events.
Perhaps the biggest news of the day was RB Nick Chubb, who coach Kirby Smart said looked good in his first full-contact work of the fall:
Kirby said Nick Chubb was tackled about 7 or 8 times today. Good for him physically and psychologically.

Speaking of running backs, Smart addressed why RB Sony Michel wasn’t wearing an arm brace during pre-scrimmage drills:
Kirby Smart said the reason Sony Michel didn't have a wrap today was because they knew he wasn't going to scrimmage

Smart also spoke about graduate transfer DB Maurice Smith, who is already practicing with the team after he was granted a release from Alabama:

At the quarterback position, some media members (and even Smart himself) had speculated that Saturday’s scrimmage might settle the question of who the starter would be, but Smart said that’s not the case. Greyson Lambert, Brice Ramsey and Jacob Eason are all still in the mix:
Kirby said based on this scrimmage, likely there won't be a QB ruled out in competition.

All three quarterbacks got time with the first team on Saturday, including Eason, a freshman:
Kirby said Jacob Eason got to roll in with first team today, as did everyone. Hoped for balance with all QBs with the ones.

The Bulldogs will continue to work toward naming a starting quarterback, but the progress of Chubb is a big plus to take away from Saturday’s scrimmage.
