Kirby Smart and Georgia had no trouble with Florida on Saturday despite possibly overlooking the Gators.

During Georgia’s bye week, Smart said that his staff took some time to look at Missouri, which the Bulldogs play next week, before spending time preparing for Florida.

“It’s going to a big one next week, that’s what you’re getting out of me. That’s a really good team,” Smart said during his postgame press conference. “I always said that they’re extremely physical, big, tough. Eli does an incredible job on offense. Nobody’s playing better offensively in the country than they are with their quarterback. So, we looked at them in the off week. We took a day and said, ‘Hey we’re going to look at these guys before we look at Florida.’ They’re good and will be well rested before coming into our place.”

With the way Missouri has been playing recently, it’s hard to blame Smart for wanting to get ahead on preparing for the Tigers. Missouri has emerged as a top team in the SEC this season, losing just one game to LSU through 8 games. The Tigers will face Georgia next week after having their bye this week, so they will be well rested and ready for the huge matchup.
