Georgia to host satellite camp with Michigan

On Thursday, the NCAA’s Division I Board of Directors repealed the decision that was made earlier this month by the Division I Council that forbid FBS coaches from holding or working at camps and clinics off their campuses.

And in a somewhat surprising turn of events, Georgia coach Kirby Smart and Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh have decided to combine forces and will team up for a future camp at Cedar Grove High School in Atlanta here in a few weeks.

It’s an interesting move, considering Smart had actively been against the notion of satellite camps, while Harbaugh was arguably the biggest advocate.

“That whole thing got so overblown,” Smart told AJC.com last week, regarding the previous feud with Harbaugh. “Because he and I, he and staff members from his staff had communicated. That’s a big deal to the media, big deal to you guys. But in the coaching profession we’re a bit more light-hearted about it.”

One might imagine that this won’t be the last we hear of SEC coaches teaming up with northern programs to host satellite camps throughout the summer.
