Kirby Smart has announced an indefinite suspension for Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young.
Smart shared that news while speaking on the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday morning. Smart said the suspension will remain in effect until Young’s “legal situation is resolved.”
“I got to speak to him this morning,” Smart said, via On3. “He’s been suspended indefinitely until this legal matter has resolved. We can’t really comment any more on the specifics of it but had a good meeting with him this morning.”
Young was arrested on Tuesday morning and charged with assault and battery of an unborn child. In comments made Tuesday evening, Smart said he hadn’t yet talked with Young and said he is currently away from the team.
Young is in his first season with Georgia’s football program after transferring from Miami. He has 11 catches for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns on the season.
Georgia will face Mississippi State on Saturday.
