Kirby Smart knows he has a challenge ahead of him against Missouri.

The Tigers have emerged as a top team in the SEC this season, combining a high-powered offense with stout defensive ability. Missouri’s defensive line has been dominant this season, allowing just 112 yards per game and picking up 13 sacks so far.

Smart had high praise for what the Tigers have been able to do on defense ahead of Georgia’s meeting with Missouri on Saturday.

“It’s very demanding. It takes great communication, it takes being on the same page,” Smart said during the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday. “They create difficulties, they understand what you’re doing protection-wise, they try to get the best matchups and create confusion and it’s what good defenses do. Is try to create pressure while not just completely exposing your secondary.”

Missouri is looking for a big defensive game this weekend against the Bulldogs. The Tigers have been great this season, but are looking for a signature win in the SEC. Beating Georgia would be huge, and could put Missouri on track to the SEC Championship.

But Georgia is going to bring its A-game on Saturday, as the Bulldogs can’t afford a loss if they want to reach the CFP and have a chance at a 3rd-straight national title.
