Kirby Smart’s coaching staff faced some changes over the offseason, most notably the addition of Mike Bobo as the new offensive coordinator.

The new staff has worked out well so far with Georgia putting together an undefeated season through 7 games, and Smart believes his current staff is as good as he’s ever had while at Georgia.

He believes the new staff has transitioned well, and the retention of coaches Georgia did have last year has been huge.

“It’s as good as any we’ve had, in terms of the use of personnel, the understanding of what we want and what University of Georgia standard is, they’ve been great,” Smart said during the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday. “The biggest thing is it’s a lot of retention. So you get some fresh new ideas, whether it’s analysts or people you hire from outside, but yet you still retain the expectation and knowledge of what is required to be successful. So I’ve been very pleased with the staff.”

Smart is hoping his staff can lead to a 3rd-straight national championship this season. Having several coaches that were on either the 2021 staff, 2022 staff, or both, is big for the Bulldogs in terms of experience.

Georgia gets a bye week this week before getting into a tough stretch of games to close out the season.
