Kirby Smart and Georgia saw up close and personal the dynamic abilities of Jaylen Waddle when the Bulldogs played Alabama on Oct. 17. The junior hauled in 6 catches for 161 yards—one for a touchdown—as he broke the 120-yard receiving mark for the 4th week in a row in the Crimson Tide’s 41-24 win over the Dawgs.
An incredible season was cut short, though, as Waddle sustained a season-ending injury to his right ankle during the opening kickoff of the Tide’s game against Tennessee on Saturday.
“I’m sick for that young man because he’s as electric a football player as I’ve ever seen,” Smart said, according to the Athens Banner-Herald’s Marc Weiszer.
Unfortunately, it’s likely we won’t see Waddle on a college football field again this season. The good news: the Houston-area product will be able to come back stronger than ever in 2021, if not on Saturdays then certainly on Sundays in the NFL.
