As Georgia continues its undefeated season, the Bulldogs are receiving more attention from around the SEC and the rest of the country.

One example came on Friday when The Paul Finebaum Show visited Athens ahead of the Bulldogs’ game against Missouri Saturday night. The SEC Network’s “SEC Nation” pregame show will air live from Athens on Saturday morning, but on Friday afternoon, coach Kirby Smart chatted with Finebaum about how Georgia’s quarterbacks have dealt with their roles.

Freshman Jake Fromm, who was the backup to start the season, has grabbed the starting role and the confidence of the team and fan base since Jacob Eason suffered a left knee injury in the season opener against Appalachain State.

“They’re not putting themselves above the team, and I think that’s the most important thing right now,” Smart said.

Smart said he’s excited about Fromm’s growth, and the freshman is very comfortable running the offense. Smart also said Georgia’s played better defense this year, which has helped Fromm. Eason, for his part, continues to improve, but Smart said he’s still wearing a knee brace, and is not yet 100 percent.

“They’re both mature kids, they come from great families,” Smart said to Finebaum. “They room together on the road. I think they understand that this team dynamic is much bigger than them. If one of them was older, I think it would be tougher. But the senior leaders of our team have done a great job of embracing both of them. Those running backs, they love both those quarterbacks, that O-line, they love both those quarterbacks.”
