Kirby Smart explains why Dominic Lovett has been an ‘impactful’ addition for Georgia
Kirby Smart had high praise for one his receivers that transferred from Missouri.
Dominic Lovett joined Georgia over the offseason and has been a key part of the offense, picking up 365 yards and a touchdown so far this season. Lovett was a standout for Missouri last year, and on Saturday he will face his former team for the first time.
Smart explained how Lovett has been impactful for the Bulldogs this season during the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday, saying that Lovett has brought some much needed experience to Georgia’s team.
“He’s been very impactful because he’s got good speed, he’s experienced,” Smart said. “He brings a value of pass-catching ability from our conference where it’s tough, it’s man-to-man, people get their hands on you. He played well last year and had some production. Same way with Rara (Thomas). So if you get guys who’ve had some production, a lot of times they’re a little bit more confident than a high school kid or anybody else, he has that confidence. So he’s given us the luxury of experience that we didn’t have.”
Lovett is looking for a big game against his former team this week. Georgia is facing its biggest test of the season so far against Missouri, and it is looking for a signature win to help solidify its spot in the CFP.
Meanwhile, Missouri is looking for a huge win to assert themselves at the top of the SEC, but it will be a big task taking on the Bulldogs on the road.
