For some Bulldogs fans, Kirby Smart finishing out his tenure as Alabama’s defensive coordinator and helping the school win a national title is a conflict of interest.

But Smart, who will soon transition to become Georgia’s next coach, has said it can only be good for the Bulldogs if the Crimson Tide reaches its ultimate goal this season, according to USA Today’s Nicole Auerbach.

On Monday, Smart reiterated that the situation hasn’t felt wrong to him at any point during the limbo period.

“I never got a feeling of mixed loyalties,” Smart said, according to DawgNation.com’s Jeff Schultz. “When I was recruiting for Georgia, I was 100 percent with the Georgia Bulldogs. When I’m coaching Alabama, I’m 100 percent with Alabama.”

Smart will guide Alabama’s defense as it takes on Michigan State in the College Football Playoff semifinal this Thursday night.
