Stetson Bennett should not be here. Not when compared to most others who were in his shoes.
No, the former walk-on should not be a starting quarterback for the best team in the nation, a national champion or a Heisman Trophy finalist. But don’t you dare tell him that.
Saturday night at the Heisman ceremony, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart explained how Bennett progressed from walk-on in the SEC to standing on stage for the most prestigious award in college football.
Kirby Smart during the Heisman telecast on Stetson Bennett’s Georgia career: “We kept thinking he wasn’t good enough, and he kept proving us wrong over, and over, and over again.”

Bennett just keeps impressing for the Bulldogs. Georgia takes on No. 4 Ohio State in a few weeks, looking to advance to a 2nd straight national championship game.
Can Bennett and Georgia go back-to-back?
