The Georgia Bulldogs have come out strong in Monday night’s National Championship Game and hold an impressive 13-0 lead over Alabama at halftime.
Heading into the locker room, though, coach Kirby Smart knows his squad can’t let up just yet.
As he was interviewed by ESPN’s Maria Taylor, Smart said
“I’m seeing some composure, seeing some physicality, doing a good job running the ball,” he said. “(Alabama is) big and physical up front, so they’re hard to move. The backs are running hard, the quarterback is making some really good decisions. Our defense is getting the ball back for our offense.”
However, Smart added that the special teams units need to do more to keep the Bulldogs from letting the Tide back into the game.
“We’ve got to make better decisions on special teams,” he said. “We keep hurting ourself with penalties. We can’t do that.”
Both Georgia and Alabama are great at making halftime adjustments, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens after the break.
