Since Nick Saban took over as Alabama’s head coach in 2007, the Crimson Tide have won four national championships and have gone on an impressive run of dominance.

However, this year’s Crimson Tide squad has had some close calls and actually missed out on the SEC Championship Game after losing to Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

Because of that, Georgia coach Kirby Smart said on Saturday that he doesn’t think Alabama is the Goliath it has been in years past:

Smart didn’t mean that as a shot at Alabama by any means. He simply said he feels the entire SEC has gotten better.

That, of course, is a controversial opinion, as many think the SEC was worse overall this year. Smart disagrees, however, and with two SEC teams in the National Championship Game, it’s hard to argue too much with his point of view.
